HISTORY

Ada "Coley" Coleman was working at the American Bar in the Savoy hotel in London in the early 1900s

One of the customers, Charles Hawtrey, a famous actor of those years and, according to Coley, one with a fine palate, requested a cocktail, in his own words

"with a bit of a punch in it"

After some experimenting, Coley had a concoction ready for his guest and, on his next visit, she presented him with the drink

After tasting the drink, his words made history:

"That is the real Hanky Panky!"

THE AMERICAN BAR

One of the historical bars of London is the American Bar in the Savoy hotel, opened in the late 1800s

Many legends of the bartending industry worked at the American Bar like Coley, and Harry Craddock, the writer of the famous Savoy Cocktail Book.

The American Bar is home to a "museum" of old legendary liqueurs including some that are discontinued
